Ganesh flinging again (check the archives), and off we go to the lake. Shiv does the pooja at our house, with Karen, Paul, and Kirsty (Lewis having sensibly realised that he had another engagement) in attendance. The coppers have sealed off the lake and we can't get the car close, so I go off and park up. It's early, so there's not too much traffic (that'll come later), but what there is is having a good time. The lake's surrounded with cranes to stuff the enormous Ganesh idols into the lake, and the clean up squad is bracing itself for a few long days following the orgy of flinging. Shiv does another pooja by the lake before paying a hanger on to reverently place his Ganesh into the lake, Fiona having threatened to abandon him (Shiv that is) if he tried to get back into the car having been in the lake. Fortunately, the wind's blowing away from us, so the smell's not too bad this year.
