Nampally Road (40 images)
A walk along one of my favourite roads in Hyderabad, the Nampally Road. It all happens here, locksmiths, tool shops, barrel traders, butchers, a road roller repair yard, rickshaw supplies and repairs, temples, mosques, old decaying buildings and the general hustle and bustle of Indian street life. We try Yousoufain's tomb, but the guy on the door isn't impressed by my shorts (as aren't quite a few people) so won't let me in. Hanna, my companion for the day, is welcomed, and given the guided tour, so I hang about at the gate taking pics of the kids (which they love). The guy on the door notes my natural affinity for children, and lets me in, although only by the back way. Shoes aren't allowed, and the stones are hotter than hell, so the entire place is treated to me dancing across the courtyard, accompanied by hoards of laughing kids. Great fun. Then onward to check out one of the saddest buildings I've seen so far. A lovely wood framed house on the edge of the Ring Road and surrounded by a hideous set of new buildings, so I figured I'd better get a closer look before it's demolished in the name of the car.
